KEY STATEMENTS
Bodies shouldn't predict beauty.
People conform to societal standards to be accepted.
Anger arose from having restricted options when creating the ideal body image, as well as feeling helpless and afraid to make the wrong choice about the body type.
Surprised at the fact that the body image that was created only represents such a small portion of women in the United States.
SO WHY has OUR society choose to value a singular body type?
All 10 respondents had difficulty in answering this question,but they all had some ideas as to why our society values a certain body.
Influence early on from children's toys, like barbie dolls

Media portraying women with these body to be happy, healthy, and fun. As if having this body is easy and attainable. What woman doesn't want to be happy and healthy and have it be easy?
Women trying to find a way to be accepted.
The idea that this type of body is being "rewarded" through movies, magazines, or men's ideas of beauty.


Even with some uncertainty about why this societal structure is present, ALL WOMEN agreed that how media portrays women affects how they feel about their bodies. (to a certain extent)
